QI’ve been researching varieties of fancy
mice to see if anyone has lines that have very large body sizes. On
your web page of mouse varieties, the Satin mouse pictured appears
to be enormous, about the size of a small rat. Any information you
can share on breeders of large mice would be great.
AMost any purebred English Show mouse will be
larger than normal, like the Satin pictured on our web site. These
have been selectively bred for over a hundred years by fanciers in
England. There are a few people in the United States working on
show mice or taking the large English show mice and using to improve
their pet shop lines/colors. Of course there are many breeders in
England that have the large show mice. There are now many other clubs
and breeders of show mice in other countries as well—getting
their initial stock from English breeders. Some colors/markings/coat
types won’t get as big as others no matter who breeds them so
it depends on what you are looking for.
