In the basement lives
a certain beast,
Count Ratula is his name,
and drinking blood
is where it’s at
that is his favorite game.

But not the blood
of dogs and cats
or even people like me,
for it’s the juice
of veggies and fruits
that he loves so dearly, you see.

On Halloween
he roams about
searching for plants he can taste,
to sink his teeth in
and suck the juice out
that always is the case.

So on Hallows Eve
you guard your plants
and vegetable gardens and such,
for Ratula will have
a feast in your yard
leaving you nothing but husks.
